Without struggle, there is no progress.
Today, I answer a friend’s question about struggling to get out there and socialize without the aid of alcohol.
“….my past two sober weekends my boyfriend and I have stayed home mostly. Any tips on how to brave the things you used to love to do with wine, without wine?”
Find the strength to make progress despite the struggle
I think having the courage to do things you love again without wine definitely comes with time…and confidence. The confidence comes from getting some sober “firsts” under your belt and just getting out there again.
- Birthday parties
- Special dinners
- Road trips
Any special event without alcohol feels intimidating at first but – most times – it’s never as bad as it seems. And in most cases it’s actually way better because you embrace the experience with a clear head, a clear heart and a new perspective. The confidence comes through facing your fears and trying something new.
