Do you keep the promises you make to yourself? Like really consistently? As much as you do your promises to others? I know I don’t.
I recently read the Best Selling book, Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. It is so inspirational and has encouraged me to DREAM BIG and stop telling myself lies. Or, to put it in other words, eliminate negative self talk. This book is for anyone who has a dream and is wanting some OOMPH in making it happen.
She made a point that we would never break the promises we make to others as often as we do to ourselves.
If we did, we may not have many patient friends surrounding us anymore!
Here is a quote from the book:
“If you constantly make and break promises to yourself, you’re not making promises at all….How many times have you given up before you’ve even started? How many times have you made real progress, only to face a setback and then give up completely? How many times have your family or friends or coworkers watched you quit? How many times have your children watched you give up on yourself over and over?” – Rachel Hollis, Girl Wash Your Face
Keep the promises you make to yourself
If you’ve made a promise to yourself to see what life is like without alcohol, just keep going. Don’t give up and break this promise to yourself.
You are here for a reason. You signed up for a reason. When it gets hard, when life gets stressful and sad and gloomy – which it very may over your alcohol free challenge – DO NOT QUIT.
Find out how strong you really are. How prepared you are to ace daily hiccups and frustrations – and even the good stuff – without alcohol.
You may not believe me now, but there is so much satisfaction in taking on challenges and successes head on – with peace and clarity.
We don’t need to celebrate, mourn, rewind or decompress with alcohol. I’m going to keep my promise to myself today. How about you?
